Yesterday, the cat got out as he sometimes does (we let him explore) but when he came back he was not himself. He's usually quite attached to us but last night he was fearful of everything, even inanimate objects like shoes or leashes. When provoked, he actually ran around the room in a panic, leaping off walls and my computer screen, absolutely terrified. We managed to get him to calm down somewhat but he wouldn't purr. His eyes were completely dilated. This morning, he's much more himself, affectionate and purring, but he still gets very anxious in areas he hasn't been recently (though he's been there many times before!) and was too tense to make the leap he usually does onto my table.
What's wrong with our cat?
Why has my cat become suddenly anxious?
Probably fell in with a bad crowd, doing drugs, staying out all night, etc. If you notice his grades slipping and he becomes more despondant you should get him psychologically evaluated.
Reply:Because it saw u and u scared it to death hahaha
Reply:It sounds like your cat may have had a run in with another cat or a wild animal that it perceives to be threatening. It could have even been an aggressive dog. You may want to consider keeping him indoors for a few extra days. Check him over for any bite wounds or scratches. They may be buried in his fur. Especially if you see him licking in one particular area, there may be a wound there. As long as he's eating and drinking he's probably fine and doesn't need a trip to the veterinarian. Please, note that if he spends time outside unsupervised, you should be sure he's up-to-date on his vaccinations. Good luck.
Reply:I am just making a stab in the dark here, but your cat might be injured slightly, or perhaps even in heat. Is this a possibility? Your cat may be ill so if the behavior continues, maybe you need to call the vet. Cats can become stressed also if there is a new pet or a new person around. Good luck and hope everything turns out great for you!!!
Reply:I am guessing but it does sound like your cat met with something totally unexpected while he was outside which frightened him silly. He is not sure what it was and he doesn't know if it will appear at "anytime" or at "anyplace." So, he is on "high alert." He may have been chased too by the "thing." After a couple of days and the "thing" does not make an appearance inside the house, he'll feel a lot safer. But he may not want to venture outdoors for a while - not too far at any rate... and I guess, until you find out what the "thing" is, you should supervise his outdoor excursions.
My cat displayed that behavior after he was chased and stung by a bee (this was when he was very young and very silly).
