He has chewed 4 pairs and the first two he did i went and got two of the same pair but he just chewwed the last pair earlier. how do i make him stop? He just started to do this about 3 weeks ago. He has also chewed the molding and Its not like he doesnt have toys or that he is bored.. He actually just went on a trip to petco to get a new bone and a thing the call a konk? that you can put treats in and it supposed to keep them occupied. There is always some one homw with him and there are two young boys and two dogs a few years older that live with us. I dont know what to do.. he is an inside dog but if he keeps it up he will be put out side.. for good.please help i dont want to do that to him he is my baby..

How do i make him stop?
He's a teathing puppy, he needs supevision and direction. He has know idea what he can and can't chew on, all he knows it feels good to chew.

When you can't watch him, crate him. When you can watch him and see him go for something he shouldn't tell him NO firmly. Wait a second or two and offer one of his toys, praise lavishly when he takes it. Also praise him when he chews one of his toys on his own, even if he stops and comes over to you he hasn't gotten the message that you like that. Getting people to put their things away also helps.
Reply:You gave the exact reason why I don't recommend bitter apple and similar sprays. Honestly I've met more dogs that LOVE the stuff than dogs that are deterred by it. Report It

Reply:You should go back to Petco and pick up some Grannick's Bitter Apple Spray. Then spray it on anythig he likes to chew but is not supposed to. I used it when my pup was chewing the molding and she gave up pretty quickly. It is non-staining and non-toxic... it just tastes horrible.
Reply:Consider yourself lucky that is all he chews. It could be alot of things. He is not happy for some reason. How long have the other people %26amp; dogs been in the house? Could it be he feels threatened by them?

He could be bored. Has anything changed regarding the time you spend with him? He is upset.

Dogs don't start bad habits out of no where when they have not had them in the past. Time for you %26amp; the boy to sit down %26amp; have a conversation. I don't think a new toy is going to help him.
Reply:first he needs exercise and next he has too much freedom in the house and third hit yourself with a rolled up newspaper and say "bad owner, bad owner"

He could be chewing the cable on your computer or an electric wire instead of your shoe. Also your shoes could impact his bowels and kill him or in the very least cost you a bundle in

an operation to remove the shoe parts.

Too little exercise, too little obedience training, too little supervision. He's a bored, teething teenager.
Reply:Keep your shoes somewhere higher. He is still a puppy you have to remeber that
Reply:The Kong was a good Idea.. try crating him when he doesn't have your full attention. Also, a Cage-type muzzle may help. He can still drink and breathe, but he can't chew!! Also, tyr attaching his leash to your waist, and ahve him with you wherever you walk in the house. That way, he cannot chew. You can also spray the molding with bitter apple to keep him from liking it too much!! Another trick is EXERCISING HIM! He's a big boy, and needs at least 2 45 min walks a day to keep him happy!! Good luck!
Reply:he is just teething.

he will eventually grow out of it.

but in the mean time, make sure everything that he can chew is up and off of the ground and buy him some chew toys.
Reply:He need something to chew on. Some pet stores sell chew toys made specifically for puppies. I would try these first, if he still prefers your shoes try getting him a Kong or something similar. These toys allow you to put food inside them. It will keep the dogs attention away from your shoe. These are also made in puppy versions which are gentler on the gums.
Reply:when you see him with your shoe -- squirt him with a spray bottle (preferably without him seeing that it is you). If that does not work try making a noise that bothers him. Like a horn or wistle. He will start associating this unpleasantness with the shoes and hopefully leave them alone.

he sleeps on my couch, and he is SO spoiled. At his old house, he played with socks that had knots in them. When I do laundry, sometimes I accidental drop a sock on the floor. All of the sudden, my doggy runs, jumps on the sock, takes it and then runs all over my house. It's crazy.

Every night before he goes to bed on the couch, he sticks his face in my shoes to look for socks. I cant get him to stop. Now I'm used to every night running after him to get the socks.

You should give him a new toy, set it next to his crate or pin every night and hopefully he'll see the toy and perfer it over the shoes.
