Why are most women self conscious about their shoe size if it is a size 9 or above?

was hanging out with a women last night who wears around 9-10 womens and will not wear flip flops because she does not like her feet because she thinks they are to big. I am the one who should feel bad, I love wearing flip flops, I only wear a size 10 in mens. Women have commented how small my feet are in the past and they have even measured their foot against mine to make it even worse when I go out with flops.

The average foot size for a woman, or when woman's shoes begin, is around a 5. Probably, it is related to this fact, and the fact that there has always been misconceptions in many cultures that women should be small and dainty. Also, the mass media promotes "smaller is better" a lot of times. So, perhaps that is why.
Reply:I thought that women being embarrassed by a larger than normal shoe size was a thing of the past. Then again, women do notice men having small feet, as it's supposed to be a sign of other smaller things.

I think it is all about perceived expectation. In your mind, your feet are too small because you expect others to assign a value to that fact. Your friend feels the same way. She probably feels that larger feet are un-feminine and you probably feel that smaller feet are un-masculine. All based on what you expect others to think of you based on you shoe size.
Reply:I hate feet in general, I think that they are all ugly.
