How long to hear back from store?

i applied to a grocery store last week and am still waiting to hear back. I'm just looking for a part-time job for the summer and i worked at this same grocery store last summer and they made me re-apply. How long does it generally take to hear back from them? And will i hear back from them at all? Im getting discouraged and don't know if i should move on to another job because i thought i was a shoe-in since i worked there last summer.

You should wait two weeks for their response. If you get no reply, call them to ask about your hiring status. If you still get no reply three days after that, you move on.
Reply:As a hiring manager I have some possible hard reality. If they "made" you reapply then this means two things. One, they had many other candidates and thought it would be more acceptable to give everyone an opportunity. The second, and this is the hard part, they were not pleased with you returning therefore put you into a new hire classification of having to reapply. But that's ok.

Always, send a thank you card for any employment interview, this shows class, maturity and also keeps you in mind. I would not call but that is your choice. If they know you, and know you understand the job, it won't make much difference if you call as they obviously know you want the job.

Never consider anything a "shoe-in" this limits your opportunities and wastes time. As summer approaches you should always put out several applications as their are others also seeking summer employment. Take this as a lesson, not to put your eggs in one basket, and open yourself up to new things, maybe you can consider another industry each summer so when you graduate you have experience in different fields.
Reply:call. It shows interest in the job and you will find out sooner whether or not you need to continue your job search.
