What shoes should I buy for next Volleyball season?

I'm not sure what kind of tennis shoes to buy for volleyball. I wore my basketball shoes last season and I would like some ideas as to what protects your ankles but lets you move quickly.

What shoes should I buy for next Volleyball season?
I'd definately say go with Mizuno's. They make all sorts of different ones specified to what each posistion may require stability wise... (ie wave spike, wave blocker etc.) I've used NIKE's, ADIDAS...all sorts of shoes made specifically for volleyball and I will never again use anything but Mizuno! They are light and are the best shoes I've ever used for volleyball.

Yes, there is a difference in volleyball shoes, basketball shoes, running shoes etc. If you are just playing for fun then your shoes won't matter too much, but if you are looking to be highly competitive I'd suggest buying volleyball shoes. Volleyball puts different stressors on your feet then basketball does, so the shoes are made completely different... but definately go with Mizuno!!!
Reply:If you could get volleyball shoes, it would be great.

Mizuno and Asics are the most popular volleyball shoes brands and are both great.

If you don't want to buy volleyball shoes but need something that you can use for other things as well, I'd recommend cross-training shoes. Cross-trainers are closest to volleyball shoes and you can use them for tennis and other sports.

Also, you shouldn't use running shoes because they're not designed to provide good lateral support. If you're really worried about protecting your ankles, maybe, you should stick with your basketball shoes because low-tops can't protect them as well as mid/high-tops.
Reply:Anything that covers your ankles is good, more is better - because this is what will save you from a very serious ankle injury (also knowing how to treat yourself - with an ankle injury, when that happens... read up about first aid, and it helps having the necessary bandage available, to apply right away). Having good grip is important - because this is the other way that an ankle injury can occur - ie. you're running toward your spike and you slip for whatever reason...
Reply:Mizuno Wave Tornado or Lightning volleyball shoes.

They help you protect your ankles and toes, and give you best grip on the floor.

You will be able to feel it when you jump, and will have to adjust your swing to not complain why you jumped so high :)
Reply:I would recommend Asics of any type.

That's what my team has used for yeaars, and we love them!

Plus they come in many different colors and designs!

Reply:i play and i personally like muzuno wave lightning 3
Reply:you will have to buy a flat footed shoes ( same as the shoes used in a badminton and tennis events ) for you to avoid injuries that most of the volleyball enthusiasts experienced because of the wrong shoe choice,..
Reply:pretty much any kind of tennis shoes but u culd go online and google volleyball shoes
Reply:I was reading some of the other responses and almost all of them said to buy mizuno or asics. Yeah they are brands that every one gets, but they are olmost a hundred dollars a pair and they only last for two seasons at the most. I have a pair of reboks that are just as good as the other shoes. Mine were only thirty dollars. I have had them for two year and they are almost as good as new, but not as clean. So any pairs of shoes will do, but if I were you I wouldn't spend the money on $100 pair of shoes when you can get a pair tht are just as good or better for a lot less.
Reply:The GEL-Volleycross from ASICS is a great choice. It has all the best features of a running shoe and a volleyball shoe. The GEL Cushioning System protects your feet from the pounding they'll take from all the hard landings when playing. It is also a lightweight shoe that allows for quick movement and maximum vertical. If you're concerned about your ankles, I would also suggest using Active Ankle braces. The T2 Guard is the best but I believe there is a new version coming out in the fall called the Volt that's supposed to offer more protection. The ASICS Volleycross actually has Active Ankle abrasion reinforcements so that it doesn't destroy the shoes from constant wear. You can find these and other great volleyball gear at www.wwsport.com.
Reply:dont wear any shoes but volleyball shoes. i have mizunos and they are the best you can get
