Pointe shoe ribbons?

PLEASE ANSWER! I have a ballet performance tonight and I am on pointe. Last night for dress rehersal, my ribbons came undone. Tonight i am going to try tying them extra tight and am going to hairspray them. Any other advice? +10 points if you can help!

Pointe shoe ribbons?
Are you tying them in a square knot? If you use a square knot and tuck them in tightly, then they should not pull out. But of course, like anything, nothing is absolutely perfect! So I think you are on the right track to hairspray them to add some friction on the ribbons so they don't pull out.
Reply:when before you do a bow or tie it wrap both ribbons around your leg 1 - 2 times then if you do knots then double knot it if you do bows then do a bow (i personally think bows are better) and double it then tuck the two loops in
Reply:i usually SOAK mine in hairspray but if this doesnt work for u u can try using medical tape underneath to hold them in
Reply:I have the same exact problem with my pointe shoes. You have a couple different options. During a regular rehearsal i just get some ace bandaging tape. (it comes in a little spool type thing and it's white and only about 1-2cm. wide) and wrap it around the ribbons. This will usually hold very well. You can get it at just about any drug store like CVS, Rite Aide etc. I did this for my summer performance last year and it was hardly noticeable. This year though i have been taking a needle and tread and just stitched a couple big stitches in the ribbons (3-4 stitches usually will do). It's less noticeable and guaranteed to hold!!! When you are done you just cut out the stitches. I hope this helps! Good Luck tonight!
Reply:i swear by eyelash glue
Reply:hairspray works really well....

but if you are really worried i would just take a needle and thread and make about three stiches on each side. you can cut them off easily when you are through and it takes about five mintues. that is usually what i do for major performances.
Reply:sew them in. just take some thread and do a little whip stitch tree to five times.
Reply:I used clear nail polish you put it on them it reduces them to come undone. You can also rub a candle on where the knot will be. Some other things can be Knot keepers you can check it out in this website http://www.discountdance.com/frame_set.p...

You can get it on your nearest dance store !!!

~Well good luck~
