Is it supposed to hurt when your hands swell?

I am 36 weeks pregnant and noticed last night that my fingers were swollen when i went to take off my ring. Both hands feel really achy and hurt when I open and close them..Does pain usually come along with the swelling in your hands..I can understand feet especially when you have shoes that are putting extra pressure by squeezing them, but hands??

Is it supposed to hurt when your hands swell?
Swelling of the hands at 36 weeks can be a sign of a serious complication known as preeclampsia, which can be lifethreatening to you and your fetus. Call the doctor and tell them about your symptoms. They will want to check your blood pressure and for protein in your urine which are signs of preeclampsia.

Please call your doctor!

I am 37 weeks and have no swelling like that, so it might be a bad sign.
Reply:YES! It can be very painful and frustrating. I hope it doesn't bother you for 4 more weeks! Your almost there!
Reply:If they're very swollen, yes, it will hurt. It stretches your skin, for one thing.
