Recylcing in a round about way is not the greatest thing you can do to help the environment. How about consume

-less

Remember going Green means giving up a lot of luxuries.

Recycling isn%26#039;t per say... going green!

Going green in truth means buying less and consuming less!

Remember buying five pairs of shoes over the course of the year... does more harm to the environment than missing your recylcing bin five times in a year!

Or... going to the mall to buy the latest BACK to school fashions.... things we don%26#039;t use is what harms the environment. Buying things that don%26#039;t last very long... ie/ stuff from the dollar store... or even things like toaster ovens that break down after four or five years!

Eating Fast food, staying in GREEN hotel suites is also NOT GREEN! In Both cases, you are still consuming convience.

And it is convience that spoils our environment.

Fast Food promotes unnecessary packaging and increases beef consumption and corporate profits.

Hotels that say they are green... are still wasting a lot of energy and produce a lot of waste! Just not as much waste (which is better,,,

Recylcing in a round about way is not the greatest thing you can do to help the environment. How about consume
So very true but how do you stop . To do all that we need a new system . Stop consuming and you lose jobs , Lose jobs and you lose an income , lose an income and you lose food people starve or they cant afford rent heat or lights then what . Face it the system sucks it can only go one way and that is to consume no in between . Thats why they build things that fall apart
Reply:But the fact of the matter is, if you understand Buddhism, we sinned about the second we were born, because we will disrupt something else%26#039;s life cycle. So instead of being guilty for just breathing air... Report It

Reply:(I don%26#039;t doubt somehow that the carbon dioxide from our breath could be blame for the end of the world), we should try to be as environmentally conscious as we can be when possible. Showering a person with guilt might end up have the person say... Report It

Reply:%26quot;Forget it! I don%26#039;t care about the world anymore! I%26#039;m going to drive my SUV and drink from styrofoam cups.%26quot;

(Lousy 300-character limit...) Report It

Reply:In a very long winded way you are explaining the hierarchy of %26quot;Reduce, Reuse, Recycle%26quot;. Do you have an actual question or do you just like to preach?
Reply:wow movingforward.......that was like a essay...very cool...it%26#039;s good to see u r still on here...by the way...i didnt delete u..I would never do that...I just deleted people that I never hear from again. I think what u said about the green thing is good. I really limit myself on clothes %26amp; shoes...I know some people (women) especially go way overboard. It%26#039;s good to bring awareness to others. Have a great day. Do u ever answer in polls %26amp; surveys anymore?
Reply:hmmm, so what is your question???
Reply:Thats a great way to go green but it would mean a lot less jobs for the corporate world, but what if there ended up being more jobs from less comsuming, its hard to explain but if there were less jobs from buying less than those people would need to go elsewhere to work, perhaps they go get jobs teaching people how to consume less, or teaching bussiness how to cope with less consumption, its hard to understand, even im getting a headache thinking about it but it is possible. its just we are not going to convince the corporate world to do anything by chatting in a blog, we need someone of higher athority to go and spread the word better. we should also consider where things come from, buy things localy that were made localy and all the supplies for it came locally which mean less travel and shipping and energy wasted, we should also watch where our wood floors and furniture come from, do they come the rain forest, or bamboo forest, or are they farm grown where no habitat it lost. i think we could improve by say avoiding chips, buying more fruits and veggies, maybe even start an indoor garden and get food year round and then whats left goes into a compost heap instead of the landfil, and the earth is helped, not harmed

if everyone that visits this blog consumes less it will cause a huge impact and really help the earth

i think simply put, demand for %26quot;creature comforts%26quot; are nuch to high and we need to cut down on them. that could mean losing some air conditioning (depending on where you live, if its the desert, i think you can keep it) but if its a Temperate climate than screw air conditioning. just think before you buy, if you get into a shopping spree mood, just leave and by the time you go to bed that day you will be saying, %26quot;i really did not need that, good thing i didnt buy it, now i have money for things i really need!%26quot;
Reply:You are absolutely right. What we want is %26quot;sustainable development%26quot; and not vague ideas about %26quot;going green%26quot;. The countries of the world meet from time to time to chalk out plans for sustainable development. Then the countries blame one another for not sticking to the norms laid down at these meetings. But nobody points out the importance of the role that individuals like you and me have to play. The whole city becomes clean if each of us cleans his or her own doorstep.
Reply:Permaculture Answer: Limit your consumption of everything including family size this is the ethical thing to do. Earth Care, People Care and Fair Shares. Greed is exploitation of other people and the environment.

If the true costs of any product was always added back in to the price there would be no overconsumption in the Western World. These costs would include the workers skills and time invested to provide a local living wage, social costs to local economies of producing items too cheaply (wage gaps, poverty etc) Environmental costs including costs of processing, production, transport and distribution and disposal of products and so on.
