Help Anti-lock brakes on 97 GMC truck problems?

1997 gmc K1500 5.7L 4wd

Anti-lock dash light keeps coming off and on. Anti-lock brakes come on at low speeds even really low a crawl. Just put new rear shoes on last week. Truck or Transmission does not want to shift. Off and on with the shifting but brake pedal is spongy . Sensor maybe? Happened over night no warning. Anyone got any ideas? Thanks

It sounds as if the rear speed sensor is malfunctioning, this sensor will also control the shift points of the transmission, go to a transmission shop or your local mechanic and have it checked.
Reply:Did you bleed the breaks when putting on the rear shoes? As far as the transmission try checking the fluid is it brown or bright red?If it is brown then it needs to be flushed. If you have already checked these problems then it maybe your MAP sensor, try checking it.Hope this helps.
Reply:take them off and out them back on again, it maybe that there isn%26#039;t something aligned properly or something is sticking. if all else fails then ask a mechanic
Reply:Try unplugging the anti-locks at the master cylinder. This worked for my Silverado. The light went off and the brakes worked better.
Reply:have a mechanic check the abs system codes it sounds like you have a bad wheel speed sensor. and may ned to try bleeding and adjusting the rear brakes again
Reply:I had a %26#039;95 GMC Sonoma and had problems with the antilocks.....I got rid of it.
