Is it possible to Break Las Vegas ?

I came out to Las Vegas from Los Angeles on a shoe string budget of $20000 . I had no job lined up, I rented a room in a house for $600 per month. I have an old car thats hitting 100000 miles and the clothes on my back. Basically to make a long story short, in 5 trips to the different casinos on the strip, Ive managed to come up $8000 pure profit including show tickets, 4 compt dinners at the Bellagio, Ceasars, MGM, and The Mirage. I also got compt a junior suite at the Ballegio that was going for $489 per night for FREE. I am counting cards and its working just like I had practiced for the last 2 years with the +1 and -1 system and its been working like a charm. I feel like Mr. Las Vegas and Im ready to bring the house down. Im having dreams of making millions and become the next blackjack mastermind of the new milleniium. Ive actually been treated with alot of respect from the pit bosses, the shift managers, the dealers, and have been offered alot of extras. Is this talent or luck ?

I would recommend you read %26quot;Bringing Down the House,%26quot; by Ben Mezrick. It%26#039;s about a group of MIT students in the 80s and 90s who ran a card-counting ring in Vegas. It may give you a little perspective on the longevity of such schemes, and just how much money you can actually make. The %26quot;luck%26quot; eventually runs out and you%26#039;re left with being barred from every major casino in the Continental U.S. No fooling!





P.S. Card counting is neither talent nor luck; it is a skill that is mastered. You may have that ability, and you may do it well. But so did the MIT students when they made their millions. But whenever ANYONE regularly takes Vegas for more than Vegas takes them, Vegas gets very suspicious and they will find you out. They may not be able to prove you count cards, but that doesn%26#039;t matter. The mere suspicion that you count is enough to get you banned. Just be careful, hey? Knee caps don%26#039;t work so well when they%26#039;ve been bashed in by an over-zealous pit-boss. Or maybe I%26#039;ve been watching too many mob movies... ; )

Reply:Ha ha! I can%26#039;t tell you how many times I asked that question! The answer is simple: No, they will break you before you break them. I%26#039;ve been lucky before and not. I%26#039;ve had all kinds of comps and offers too. It%26#039;s nice to be respected... remember to respect the odds! You can be the luckiest guy in Vegas or on Earth for that matter for a while. Inevitably, you will feel the pain of loss and %26quot;I can%26#039;t catch a break%26quot;! As you have become quite accomplished with your %26#039;strategy%26#039; and are lucky, go ahead and try to take down the house! There%26#039;s no law against it. However, if you are asked or escorted to a %26#039;room%26#039;... you can guess where I%26#039;m going with that. It%26#039;s best to be prepared for ANYTHING! That includes %26#039;luck%26#039; and not. Don%26#039;t let your overinflated ego get in the way of common sense. Good luck kid.
Reply:Counting cards can work. MIT proved it and others have done it also. The thing is, if you get caught the casinos will ask you to leave and they have the right to do so.





Anthony Curtis used the system quite well, but was figured out and can no longer play table games at the casinos. He has Las Vegas Advisor now which gives tips and deals.





Your dream of breaking Vegas won%26#039;t happen, you may win in the short run, but the mathmatics are stacked against you. Besides, you are talking about millions of dollars in the large casinos.

The house will ALWAYS have the advantage (So you %26quot;system%26quot; players, beware!) Many people have divorced, cried, suicided, bankrupted, (lost homes and farms!) become gambleholics (yes,I%26#039;m a former one,too!) to bring you those %26quot;wonderful%26quot; Hotel-casinos!





DO NOT go gambling alone! Take someone with you, who can remind you,%26quot;Hey! It%26#039;s time to go!%26quot;





DON%26#039;T spend more than an hour in any casino.There have been studies that show that certain people begin to lose heavily AFTER spending an hour gambling.





DO wear a watch,as you will find NO clocks (and sometimes, even windows!) in the gaming areas.





DO set a limit and stick with it.





DON%26#039;T get greedy. (don%26#039;t even try to %26quot;win back%26quot; what you lost. Just %26quot;bite the bullet%26quot; and live with it) As a rule, if you%26#039;ve doubled your money, walk away!
