What kind of pointe shoes?

I've been dancing en pointe since I was 9 and I'm almost 14 now. I've tried Sansha Premiere and Capezio Glisses. I love the feel of the Glisses and how fast they break in but they just aren't lasting long enough. The boxes break down really fast and I don't like using glue. Does anyone know of a good shoe that is decently priced, breaks in easily, but lasts long? Or if anyone just has good shoes to recommend in general please tell me and why. Thanxx♥♥♥

What kind of pointe shoes?
Well Gaynor Minden's require NO breaking in and are very simple, require no pads, and last a very long time! Usually if u dance around 2 hrs per week they can last up to around 9 months! Also I found ease with Chacotts but I HATE their color!
Reply:Try sansha ovation. I have them and they are really good for me. Except they do take a couple of classes to break in.

Also Leo's is good too.

Reply:Ask your ballet teacher. He or she may have some

recommendations since they know you and how you

dance. Everyone's feet are different. It's important to

get the right pointe shoes. They affect the way you

dance and must be right for your feet. Price is not

the only consideration. Comfort is also important.

Dancers can go through several pairs at a time

fairly quickly. I do understand that you want them to

last a while, but that isn't the only consideration.

I am an ex-dancer myself. Hope this helps.

Happy dancing.
Reply:the best that have worked for me was grishko and russian pointe! try one of those but first be professionly fitted for them!!

God bless!!:DD
Reply:judging by the styles you've tried and liked, i'd suggest trying a pair of glisee pro es. they're very similar but with a harder shank. the styles you've tried suggest a wide or squarer (erererererer) foot or short toes, so you may like something like a gamba 97 or a merlet empriente, depending on the width of your heel.
Reply:I must agree with what a couple others have said...Gaynor Minden are great pointe shoes. As someone else said, they don't require any breaking in at all. They are a bit more expensive than other shoes, but they last a lot longer. I wore my last pair for two years of a, once a week, during the school year, class. They are comfortable, and pre-broken in (part of why they are more expensive). I think my last pair was about $80, but I think it is worth it. A dance teacher would probably be able to tell you some of the characteristics of different brands, or just ask at a dance shoe store.
Reply:i like Fredericks, because once their broken in, they last the longest, ( i had one pair for two years and i danced about thirty hours a week) and they come with pads in them so they stay in place and theyre really comfy.

They're around eighty bucks, but they're more than worth it
Reply:yes, I've been on pointe for 5 years. I'm 16. I personally like the gaynor minden brand. They're awesome shoes. I had capezios once and they only lasted for maybe 2 months. The gaynor minden's have lasted me over a year and are just now starting to wear out. They have extra padding in the toe area and are just overall great. go to gaynorminden.com for more info.
Reply:All of my pointe shoes have been Bloch Sonata (sonata is the color.) They are the best shoes I have seen around. They have a wider box so they are easy to dance in and my teacher said they look great on my feet. I do pointe twice a week for 3 hrs. total. I have had them for a while now. They last long and break in easily.
Reply:Well I have been wearing Bloch's (Axiom and Sonata) for the past couple of years. They break in extremely well and last for a good while (it really depends on how many hours of pointe you are doing.) Grishko's work well but some of the shoes break in too easily. Shoes that I would definetly NOT recommend are 1.)Gaynor Minden's; they are made with a plastice shank which is very new to the ballet world and they do last a long time, but the reason why so many schools scorn theses shoes are because you can't reach a high demi-pointe. Since the shank is plastice the demi pointe is usually very little or none making it more difficult to roll up to pointe. 2.) Freed's; they do not last more than a week or so, especially if you are doing more than 4 hours of pointe a week.

Depending on your arch and whether it is high or not Grishko's work well but I wore them for a day and they were dead (I have pretty high arches.) But they could very well work for you as they do for many people (I used to wear them when I was younger, great pointe shoe for beginner/intermediate dancer.)

But once you find a pointe shoe that works for you stick with it. I hope this helps.

Happy Dancing!!
