Standing up all day and flat feet?

I recently got this factory job, and I have to stand up all day. Its just been day to but my feet are killing me. It hurts to my knees, I also have flat feet. I also work 8 hrs a day and 3 random breaks one of them of which last for 30 min.

What do you recommend as for shoes sols and possible exercises I can do while working. Such as stretches etc,,,

Standing up all day and flat feet?
Look for a support shoe. You need something to correct your arch. If you get an orthodic it will help but it costs a lot. Start by purchasing a solid support shoe.
Reply:use doctor stoles in sols they have all kinds of them..
Reply:Flat feet poses a challenge, we need arches in our feet which acts like a spring and a shock absorber. I recommend to pick up some cheap $20 orthotics at your local pharmacy or consult with a podiatrist to get custom orthotics which are more pricey but work better.

At home or during your break, take your shoes and socks off. Place a pen/pencil on the floor and try grabbing it with your toes 30 times. Repeat this 3 times a day. This will strengthen the muscles in your feet and help restore some of that arch.
Reply:You need better shoes to support your feet since you have what is known as fallen arches. My Dad has the same problem and so do other males in america 6 foot and over.
Reply:I wear workboots from Sears...DIE HARD...they are black and were on sale for $40 but usually cost $60. They looked like my previous Timberlands and we have to wear black.
Reply:If you have only just recently started to do this standing up job then you legs and feet are not going to be used to it.

They will strengthen in time and get used to it, you do seem to have sufficient amounts of breaks too.

What you could try when standing is not to stand with your knees locked, and just tense your calf muscles a little as this will help the blood flow up your legs to circulate more.
Reply:It will get better over time in general, as you get used to standing up so much. Cheap shoes are the worst thing you can buy. You may need to see a professional to get orthotics (custom-made shoe inserts) but I'd try a brand of shoe insert first. I have found reeboks to be the most comfortable shoes ever. I hope someone else can answer about the exercises but when I worked at Target last Christmas I would go into the most private bathroom, take off my shoes and socks really fast and press my sore feet onto the cool floor-that really helped.
Reply:I'm a server and I use Dr. Scholl's gel inserts in my shoes. Not knowing the details of your job, my only suggestion may or may not make sense -- keep moving. I've found that I can run around on my feet all day and feel ok considering. But the minute I have to host or do a job that cuts back on me moving and requires me standing in one place is when I start to hurt. If you can, take as many extra steps as you can (without affecting your work, of course)....you don't keep all your weight pushing down on your feet when you do.
Reply:Get orthotics! They are costom made to your feet and will relieve all that pain. It may cost $150 but it is worth every dime!

Just find a good foot doctor or I had mine made up in Mammoth Mountain at Footloose. which sells ski boots. Mde all the diferance in the world!
